1. YouTube's "Show More" button not working

YouTube "Show More" button won't work and does nothing when you press it. OR Alternately it refreshed the entire page instead of showing more.

Solution: There are two methods of dealing with this kind of problem. Both can be relatively technical but we've taken the time to break it down so that you don’t have to research any of these terms.

Let's start with the proxy theory. A proxy is a dedicated server or computer of some sort that has been designated to act like a middle man between a destination like your computer and another server such as a website you are trying to access.

The point of a proxy is to either bring about security and privacy (they can mask a lot of information about a user) or they are used for caching purposes. Either of these is why a proxy is a potential solution for this YouTube problem.

Visit a proxy site, input the web address and use that to access YouTube. Your problem should now be fixed. Of course if this works it may not be the only problem. If you have multiple ad blockers on your browser, for example, that could also cause the problem. It would be a good idea to check that as well.

If not the proxy site or adblock issue, webpage widgets might be your problem. Webpage widgets are the little applications that have a drastically small functionality that are either installed by you or your web browser. These widgets do something useful like define things, invert page colors, block ads, or grab images and download them for you.

Sometimes these widgets cause problems with pages based on how the widget is designed. If you have widgets, simply make them inactive one by one until you find one that, when deactivated makes YouTube's buttons work again. Alternately you can disable every widget and enable them one by one until the YouTube buttons not working. Then you know which widget is the problem and can either uninstall it or just keep it disabled when you visit YouTube.

2. "add to favorites" or the thumbs down button not working

You've tried clicking your name so that you can get to your profile or when you press any button like "add to favorites" or the thumbs down, it doesn't do anything. You've checked to see if it did something and just didn't notify you but nothing seemed to happen.

Solution: This answer is probably one of the most simple. Your problem seems like it’s caused by adblock when in fact it is not. The problem is a manifestation of an entirely different problem. Ask yourself when the last time was that you updated various widgets or browser features such as flash or java. Has it been a while? That means you should get the newest version.

The more common of these two that causes the problem would be java. When you try to click on the button it should say something about JavaScript when highlighted. Clear your cache, install the newest version of java, restart your browser and you're on your way.

3. "watch later" button not working

When you try to use any of the "watch later" functions including rearranging the list and removing the videos it doesn't work. The little X's won't even highlight. In fact, the button that lets you add videos to your watch later list hasn't actually been adding the videos.

Solution: The problem is a little weird. It's your adblock. Disable adblock and you will not that it starts working again. Of course you don't want to leave adblock disabled so instead you need to go in and add an exception for "https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/id" which is how YouTube tracks the watch later stuff.

These are the most common problems associated with YouTube buttons not working. Usually restarting a browser, clearing cache, disabling a widget, or updating your java will fix most issues presented to you.
