How to add subtitles to a video

Aimersoft Video Suite is the perfect software to add subtitles to videos on Mac and Windows. With it, you can apply brand-new subtitles by entering the relevant texts and captions. Alternatively, you can import local subtitle files like SRT, SSA, and ASS and add them to your video.

Part 1. How to add subtitles to a video on Windows

Step 1 Open the subtitle editor tool.

Install and run Aimersoft Video Suite on your PC and then tap the Subtitle Editor tool to launch the subtitle window.

Step 2 Upload a video file.

Now drag and drop your video file on the Add button at the center of the window. Another way to upload a video is to click Add Files at the top-left corner to open File Explorer and add a video file.

Step 3 Add subtitle tracks to the video.

It's time to customize your video file with subtitles. To do that, click either of these buttons:

New

Tap the New button to create and add an SRT subtitle from scratch. After clicking this button, you'll see an empty subtitle track added below the preview screen. Click it and then enter the subtitle text on the textbox. If satisfied, press the Add button on the subtitle track timer to apply the new subtitle and repeat to add more subtitle tracks. Finally, click the Subtitle List menu to see the name of your added subtitle file.

Import

Click Import to launch File Explorer and search for a local SRT subtitle file. After selecting and importing a file, you'll see all the subtitle tracks added below the preview screen. You can customize the subtitle font type, color, size, positioning, and opacity before clicking Apply to All to add the changes to all subtitle tracks. And you can tap the Subtitle List menu and click Add to upload more local subtitle files. Plus, tap the Search Subtitle button to search and download online SRT subtitle files.

Step 4 Save and export the video.

Choose a destination path for your video on the File Location field. Lastly, press Export to begin processing your subtitled video. Enjoy!

Part 2. How to add subtitles to a video on Mac

Step 1 Open the subtitle editor tool.
Download, install and launch Aimersoft Video Suite for Mac. After that, tap the Subtitle Editor tab on the home screen to open the subtitle window.

Step 2 Upload a video file.

After clicking the Subtitle Editor tab, a window will pop up for you to choose the video file to load.

Step 3 Add subtitle tracks to the video.

Interestingly, Aimersoft Video Suite for Mac allows you to add subtitles in three varying ways. Click either of these buttons:

Option 1: Create the subtitles by adding text.

Click the Add Text icon to generate a brand-new SRT subtitle file and add it to your video file. The steps are as same as the Windows above.

Option 2: Import the subtitle.

Tap Import Subtitles to launch Finder and search for a local SRT subtitle file. The steps are as same as the Import part for Windows above, too.

Option 3: Search Subtitles online.

Click the Search Subtitles tab to search and download online SRT subtitle files.

If satisfied with the applied subtitles, tap Save to apply subtitles to your video on Aimersoft Video Suite for Mac. It's that easy!
