I own AImersoft Video Converter Ultimate and LOVE the software, but found that the menu and opening sequence created in Windows DVD Maker was much nicer. I had the same problem burning with Windows and Aimersoft from AVI. The sound is actually there, but you have to max out the volume on the player to hear it.. I have 8 home videos I'm trying to burn. 5 are fine, three have the sound problem. I guess I'll try converting it to a different file format and burning from that, see if it'll work. Since I'm actually starting with VHS which I'm using Pinnacle to convert to avi and then Aimersoft to get the file down to a "normal" size, the whole process is pretty time consuming and FRUSTRATING since the videos play great from the AVI file! Since I have them all in AVI, I'm just going to try using Aimersoft to change the file format... hopefully no more recording from the source VHS.
