How to Rip CD to MP3 using Windows Media Player

If you got tons of CDs and want to get MP3 songs from your favorite CDs so that you can enjoy your favorite songs on MP3 players anytime and anywhere you like, then you've come to the right place.

What is ripping? Ripping a CD extracts the RAW music (Usually in CDA or CDAA format) from a CD to audio formats like MP3, WAV, etc. If you have Windows Media Player installed on your computer, you can use it to rip CDs to MP3 songs for playback on any MP3 player. When ripping CDs using Windows Media Player, you have several formats to choose from for outputting music files: WMA, MP3, WAV, etc. Usually, when using Windows Media Player, people rip a CD to MP3 format because MP3 is a minimally-compressed format, this means you lose little audio quality. If you don't want to lose any audio quality, you can choose "WAV" as the output format.
