If you got tons of CDs and want to get MP3 songs from your favorite CDs so that you can enjoy your favorite songs on MP3 players anytime and anywhere you like, then you've come to the right place.
What is ripping? Ripping a CD extracts the RAW music (Usually in CDA or CDAA format) from a CD to audio formats like MP3, WAV, etc. If you have Windows Media Player installed on your computer, you can use it to rip CDs to MP3 songs for playback on any MP3 player. When ripping CDs using Windows Media Player, you have several formats to choose from for outputting music files: WMA, MP3, WAV, etc. Usually, when using Windows Media Player, people rip a CD to MP3 format because MP3 is a minimally-compressed format, this means you lose little audio quality. If you don't want to lose any audio quality, you can choose "WAV" as the output format.
Now just follow the below steps to use Windows Media Player to rip CDs to MP3 with ease.
It's recommended that you connect to the Internet so that Windows Media Player can get all the information about the songs when ripping the CDs.
You can click "Start" > "All Programs" > "Windows Media Player" to open the program. If you haven't got Windows Media Player yet, you can go to Microsoft official website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player to download it. (Windows Media Player 10 or above is recommended.)
Insert the CD you want to rip to MP3/WMA/WAV to your computer CD drive. Windows Media Player will automatically read the CD and begin to play the music on the CD. You can click "Now Playing" to get the information of all the songs on the CD.
To select the format, bitrates, etc. Click "Tools" > "Options" and choose the "Rip Music" tab Then choose the songs you want to rip and click "Start Rip" on the bottom right to start ripping CDs using Windows Media Player.
After the ripping process finished, you can click "Library" to find the ripped songs.
Please note that if the rip tab is already open when you insert the CD, Windows Media Player will rip the CD automatically when inserted. If you have some songs and want to burn them to CDs, you can refer to How to Burn CD with Windows Media Player.
