Apple’s iPhone will self-destruct with third party applications

Release Date: 30 May 2007From: http://mac.blorge.comkeyword: Apple, iPhone

As the day for the Apple iPhone launch draws closer, more details are surfacing. Since January 2007, we have been bombarded with a lot of iPhone news that barely qualifies as such. In fact, along with such rumors, the wireless wars between AT&T and Verizon have also been heating up.

Since the iPhone is to debut in June 2007, we now have some confirmed news regarding the phone’s applications. AT&T, the iPhone’s sole provider in the U.S. has said that several Google applications will definitely be present on the much-awaited handset.

Glen Laurie, AT&T’s iPhone connoisseur has fed us with a few morsels of information on the soon-to-be released touch-screen phone. While he didn’t let out much in the way of the iPhone’s finer details, he did have something rather interesting to say.

Firstly, when asked about the iPhone’s hyped up price, he replied, “There are some things- you have widgets, some of the Google applications that are coming- there are just so many things here that the price will not be an issue.”

Laurie also spoke to the Seattle Times and said that the iPhone’s touch screen would also surprise people. “I think when people get their hands on it and really experience it- the touch is phenomenal. This touch screen is like nothing you’ve ever used- to experience that, the skepticism, I think… will go away” he said.

Okay, that’s fair enough for us. Also, since he actually mentioned that there will be Google applications (as in plural), we can safely say that the iPhone will include more than just Google’s Gmaps. Possibly, the iPhone could include a Google news reader, Gmail, or even Gcal apps on the phone.

However, we are just speculating as usual. Apple never ever seems to let out any details in advance, and generally uses this method to hype up the launch of whatever product it may be launching.
