    I have been trying to convert a movie purchased from itunes to AVI for the past three days... Best I got after several tries was a movie without sound... What a disappointment... Moreover, whats all about this message to open itunes and start playing the movie in a separate window? (tried that also...)

    Do you mean when converting the DRM-ed video files, the software takes it for granted that the video files are music files and you get the output file without picture?
