Trim Video-How to Split a Large Video into Small Clips

How to trim a video

Mac users please download and install video trimmer for Mac. Then follow the same tutorial.

1Import video file

Launch the program and click "Import" to add your video file. Alternatively, you can also click the video editor icon in the upper-left corner to load your files. As shown in the following picture, video files will be loaded to media library.

2Trim a video

Next, drag the target video to the timeline panel and make a precise trimming by moving the slider forward or backward on timeline. For example, if you intend to trim the beginning or the end of the video, just move the slider to redefine a new start or end point for the video. Then click the “Split” button and delete the unnecessary part.

If the segment you want to trim is somewhere in the middle of the clip, just move the slider to read the time points where you want the segment to start and end and click the "Split" button at each point. Then delete the part you don't need.

3Save trimmed video

Before clicking "Create", previewing the trimmed video is strongly recommended. If you have got what you want, then you can generate the video and save it in your favorite way. In the pop-up window, there are four options:

  • Save it to local computer in regular video formats, click "Format";
  • Export the video for playing on mobile devices, click "Device";
  • Upload it on YouTube, click "YouTube" and input required info;
  • Burn it to DVD, just click "DVD".

is there a way to make a certain section of the video longer? I tried to trim then drag the end to elongate it, but what happened when i tried playing it back was the parts that i had trimmed away was replaced -_-;;
